The Hamar region
The Hamar region is a year- round destination offering more than 1000 years of history. You can visit the popular Hedmark Museum portraying the local history of the Viking Era and the Middle Age, the old aquavit distillary Atlungstad, The Norwegian Railway Museum, as well as the birthplace of Edvard Munch. You can also enjoy a trip with DS Skibladner; the world’s oldest paddle steamer still in traffic. At the guest farms located along the lake Mjøsa you can learn Norwegian cooking or enjoy local food. The area is optimal for slow biking, a walk along the Pilgrim trail, fishing, cross- country skiing and dog sledding trips. The region also hosts many festivals, concerts and theatre shows and has become a cultural centrepoint in the Inland- area.
